With hindsight, I would surely buy a control interface for Pro Tools, but I would probably go for another soundcard. I usually go back and forth between different programs so I'm forced to connect the headphones output of the Mac to inputs 7-8 of the soundcard (with all audio quality problems that entails). What I like least are the drivers: They are not the most stable in the world (with my setup) and you can't use the outputs of the Digi with Pro Tools and other programs in parallel at the same time. You have everything within easy reach, automations and plug-ins can be controlled directly from the Digi, you gain a lot in terms of expressiveness and workflow. The most: It's the control interface for Pro Tools. Which feature do you like the most / the least? I've been using it since 2011, it's my 3rd soundcard but the first at this price point, so I can't really compare it to other ones. Some noise when I drive the preamps too hard, which is a bit problematic for me, since I do sound design. And the jog wheel to work with images is a big plus. It complements perfectly the keyboard shortcuts. The interface was conceived with Pro Tools in mind and it really improves the workflow. I have never opened the manual, I learned by doing

Very easy setup: install the driver > connect. Just a MIDI control surface and soundcard for Pro Tools. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product again. Anyway it's better for users because Avid gear is When it came out it cost about $2500, so I was surprised to find it for $900 secondhand,Īlthough they are not easy to come by. the digi002 still works fine,īut access to the cables and settings is not as handy, especially if it is on a rack. I started with the digi 002 and quickly moved on to the digi 003 factory. I've been using it for 4 years, and I've done plenty of professional recordings with this excellent machine. Thumbs up for the sound, the console is transparent and the sound is perfect. The usual functions are easily accessible, it's easy to take control of the unit.

I have never read the manual but you can find information on the internet or asking friends who use Pro Tools.

To do that, you have toĬhange the track view pushing the appropriate button, which shows tracks 1-8 or 9-16 or 17-24. Very functional, not too big, it can handle only 8 tracks, but 4 x 8 tracks or more. You obviously have to connect it to a Mac or PC with a firewire cable.ĭirect-to-disc syning is possible (setting the clock to ADAT) and with other Digi cards, in which case the syncing is automatic. Many (most?) manufacturers provide this for their customers, to add value Novation has a really nice one for the Remote SL.RCA, Jack, firewire, XLR, optical. All types of connections are available. It would be nice if Digidesign made an editor/librarian that you could create, edit, and store presets on your computer, rather than have to do so on the 003 itself (sometime in the 90's, I stopped having time to scroll through tables of characters and numbers using dials, to name things and choose MSB/LSB values). What if I were using Reason (or Live) as host rather than as a client? The "003 Map" is for "ReWire clients such as Reason". With processor speeds up to 1.2 GHz and fully pin-compatible single-/dual-/quad-core variants, the ConnectCore 6 offers a truly future-proof platform solution with scalable performance and pre-certified wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. Looking at the "Midi Mode Guide", I don't really understand – of the presets Digi provides for the 003 – if there is a good one to start with, to create a map for Live. The Digi ConnectCore 6 is an ultra-compact and highly integrated system-on-module solution based on the NXP i.MX6 Cortex-A9 processor family. Again, has anyone made a MIDI map preset, this time on the 003 side? It could perhaps mimic the Mackie Control automap in Live, or maybe something else. Has anyone already done this and feel like sharing this map? Or at least tell me any tips or pointers, encouragement or discouragement?ī.) I can make a custom preset on the 003. They suggested two routes to explore.Ī.) I can manually map, in Live, using its MIDI learn function, all of the 003s outgoing MIDI.

Okay, I heard back from Ableton's support in a few hours (wow, *they* know how to take care of their customers).
